Gemmological Training Experience:
During his Italian studies at the Carlo Bo University of Urbino, he became passionate about the family business, jewelry, and in a break between the various exams in Economics and Commerce, he decided to enroll, thanks also to his friend/teacher Nicolas Pilagatti, current HRD manager for southern Italy, in the first training course on diamonds at the most important and renowned Gemmological Institute in Europe, the HRD of Antwerp in Belgium and after a few months he obtained the diploma of HRD Graduate Certifier on Diamonds.
The HRD institute in Antwerp is the hub of all training and certification of diamonds and precious stones in Europe, it is here that the Superior Diamond Council resides where the international rules for grading gems are established, since 2007 this figure has been detached from the certification part giving rise to two entities under the same "roof": HRD Antwerp : deals with gemological certification, professional training and research; AWDC (Antwerp World Diamond Centre) : acts as the official representative of the Belgian and European diamond industry.
After completing his studies in Economics and Commerce , graduating in 2004 , he decided to dedicate himself completely to Gemology.
In 2004 he moved to Antwerp (Belgium) and began to study and attend basic gemology courses, in English, with the study of physics and chemistry from a gemological perspective, detection methods, classification parameters, etc. In this basic course all these principles and methods are applied to the most important and well-known gems at an economic and commercial level.
Having completed this course with flying colours, obtaining the HRD Basic Gemologist Diploma , the desire to improve is still strong, so after a short break he enrolls in the Advanced Gemology course which includes the study and analysis of all or almost all known gems, a tough and demanding course but one which offers great satisfaction, and here too he completes all the theoretical and practical exams with flying colours, obtaining the HRD Graduate Gemologist Diploma and the consequent enrollment in the coveted Gemmologists club, the HDR Graduates Club.
Once all the training courses were completed, various practical experiences marked Giancarlo Terruli's gemological career , among the most important we can list:
- Classification and certification of large lots of precious gems;
- Expert reports on behalf of the Court of Brindisi;
- Expert opinions on behalf of lawyers;
- Study of paper certificates to estimate the values of the gems and jewels described;
- Participation in international trade fairs to study market trends and prices, Vicenza, Milan, Munich, Antwerp, Hong Kong;
